This book just goes to show it doesn't matter what walk of life you come from, we all can hit rock bottom; It's how you proceed afterward that shows the mark of a true survivor.Thus far this book has proven to be an excellent read. Good down-to-earth information is presented that is both logical and extremely easy to follow. Pay yourself first, get rich over time, if it sounds to go to be true it probably is; all of these things and many more are addressed and most importantly, they are things that even a person on an 18K annual salary or 200,000K salary can apply (I've personally seen both ends). I'm at the top of my circle and i plan on staying there with techniques discussed in this book. By no means am i on easy street but I have now made distinct changes in my family's life that will ensure our financial success and ease of mind well into our golden years.Discipline, discipline and common sense are the key ingredients to this material and if applied correctly you truly can seen significant progress in a relative short amount of time.If you're at rock bottom now, what do you have to lose, and, if you're at the top of your game, why chance it -Life is a race , whether we win or lose is truly up to us - I choose to win.
I like Dave Ramsey's message and approach. As a CPA and attorney with 20 years experience, I will attest to the solid no-nonsense approach Ramsey uses, as well as the fact that - like Dave - some of us think we are too smart for this stuff and we end up getting our gooses cooked. (Borrowed to buy a business, and it eventually didn't go as planned)Follow the advice and you will end up in a good spot. Yes - the first decade will be a slog - but you need to live like no one else so that you can LIVE like no one else. And once you get to that point - stick to the formula that got you there. The book itself is a bit more of a motivational book, and less of a "how to" nuts and bolts. Look at Total Money Makeover for the nuts and bolts. A good read.
Although I am not in debt, Dave Ramsey teaches people how to get out of debt. His advice is practical and is basically how people paid their bills before credit cards came into existence. My daughter and son-in-law read it and are practicing it because they had several unexpected major expenses one after another and are now trying to get out of the debt they incurred. This book is probably a MUST for young people just starting out in life to keep them from getting sucked in to the credit card culture we now live in. It is also a must for anyone wanting to get out of debt and stay that way.
Great book...after reading a borrowed copy..I decided to purchase a copy for a new friend that is young and seeking wisdom/understanding in money management. A simple way to decrease your stress level is knowing how you spend your money and where opportunities exist to get ahead. Not rocket science, just common sense and a little discipline in how you spend your hard earned cash...Read it..you'll benefit from it...Thank you.
Life-changing. I know that sounds dramatic, but it really is. And I love that the logic and his instruction are easily enough to follow. (Though it does take discipline, but so do all good things.) I had been working with a financial planner for years before reading this, and it was really neat to find that they agreed across the board. I am so thankful to have this guidance for my family's future!
Should be required reading in every high school in the Nation. Period. Even if you don't use every aspect (envelopes, etc.), the basic tenets stick with you. I've read this book at least 4 times cover to cover, and wish that I had read it the first time much earlier in my life. I've bought a case of these and give them away to clients and friends. I'm a believer.

One of the best books on personal finance I've read in a while. I still consult it from time to time. It takes you through a step by step process to financial peace. I like that it has a professional perspective from Dave and a perspective from an untrained person (his wife) that looks at the same concept in a different, every day application. Concrete examples and tools in the back. This is not just a book, it's a system and whole approach at approaching finances.

He brings a simple though challenging solution to all those who want to improve their future including the stability of their relationships.It is simple and down to earth.
