EVERYONE needs to read this book. I grew up in a Christian church that spoke so often about Israel becoming a nation again as the Bible so accurately prophesied. I was taught to love the Jewish people, and I did and still do. What I did NOT ever understand, was what was done to the people already living in Palestine. The criminal behavior done to those people, albeit not to the same scale, was way too parallel to what Germany did to the Jews. I suppose we as humans tend to do to others what was done to us. This book is sobering and screams at our need to love each other. Elias lived, and still lives, how Jesus taught us to live, under the most vile and horrifying circumstances, being treated by people I thought would have "learned" what it's like to treat others with hatred that it's not something to repeat on another group of people. As the book started out in his childhood in an enviable place with incredible family connections, my heart so yearned to know more of it. Then the changes started. I am thankful for my neighbor, Nabil, who "loaned" me a copy until I purchased it on Kindle for continuing his friendly encouragement to read this book. We're all in this world together. None of us gets out of this alive. We so need to wake up. Elias sets and example and tells a story that makes it so clear that love is always the best option. And it always is an option.

A very apt description of the area and problems. I have lived in several Mid East countries and was part of a U.S. government department that was providing food for the refugee camps, which did very little, due to the Palestine culture, infighting and corruption It is still hard to remember and describe the unbelievable conditions. I have friends on both sides and it is difficult to get either side to get past generations of culture, repeated stories and written history of atrocities, some true, some enhanced thru time. The hatred is so ingrained that it is almost impossible to change in any great numbers although does not mean any less of what the good religious peacemaker has accomplished. My own feelings was that it was was slightly tilted to the Palestinian side. I also have seen the holocaust death camps and I am afraid that there will be no lasting solution in at least my time

And if you have been enlightened enough to take the side of the Palestinians—oh, bless your hearts—take our side, because for once you will be on the right side, right? But if taking our side would. mean to become one-sided against my Jewish brothers and sisters, back up. We do not need such friendship. We need one more common friend. We do not need one more enemy . . . for God’s sake.

Here is a story I have never heard before. I am shocked by all the many things the author tells of. I have only heard one side of the story before and it was obviously a distorted side. I am ashamed of the way I have swallowed "news" stories told in a slanted way. This book helped open my eyes to things I had been blind to.Praying for the peace of Jerusalem has taken on new meaning for me. I am reminded of how the Bible has been used to justify many atrocities such as the Crusades and slavery. I am thinking how much of we have failed to listen fully to the whole truth and teaching of God's word and Jesus' message to us. There is the recent trouble in Furgeson Missouri and all the hatred and violence it has stirred up. Love and peace, truth and righteousness, learning to practice what is taught in the Sermon on the Mount, seem to be the same answers for many situations and unrest in the world today.I think this book should be mandatory reading in all school's curriculum. I recommend it to everyone. Please read this book.

I highly recommend the book, Blood Brothers. Archbishop Chacour provides an insightful account of the struggle of the Palestinian people under the oppressive rule of the Zionists. He carefully distinguishes between the Zionists and the Jewish people. I was shocked to read of the Zionists soldiers packing Palestinian men and boys into trucks and disappearing with them. It was reminiscent of the Nazis who would afflict this atrocity on the Jewish people. What about the killing field Chacour encountered as a young child. Did these Zionists learn nothing? As a Christian, I am baffled at the Zionists willingness to do to the Palestinian people what was done to them in the Holocaust. Their behavior has been quite shameful.

This is a book which fed my soul. I was challenged by this man's deep, abiding communion with the living Messiah, Jesus of Nazareth. The story of the injustices that Chacour and his village suffered, challenge the assumptions that we Westerners have accepted as true for such a long time.It is shocking that despite 2 Israeli Supreme Court decisions, and numerous inquiries, the villagers, who had lived there for centuries, have not been allowed to return to their village. Just google "Biram, Israel", and you'll see what I mean. The most recent reference is found in the newspaper: Hararetz: http://www.haaretz.com/opinion/.premium-1.545977.Nevertheless, Elias Chacour harbors no bitterness, and lives and preaches the Sermon on the Mount.

This is a book for all readers interested in the conflict between Israel and Palestine. This book gives the reader a Palestinian perspective of events that the Western world has largely ignored. Chacour guides the reader through his life from childhood to now and how he has fought the racism, violence, and hate by fighting for unity and peace in a world that seems to have forgotten its meaning. This book made me think deeper into my own ministry and how my platform can affect the lives of others. Chacour has an ability in his writing to make you think outside of your world bubble and into the life of someone different than you in every aspect, except in my case religion. This book is a spiritual and emotional journey inside of a place and a people that we only see on a map and on the news. I would recommend this book to my religious and nonreligious friends alike; in hopes that they too could come to experience the world and gain a new understanding of the Palestinian crisis through the eyes of Elias Chacour.

Well written and riveting!

Blue is such a fun surfer lover's romance. Perfect for the summer and beach time, this book will make you want to lay out on the beach and dive right into the ocean. Blue even made me want to hop up on a surfboard and try to catch a wave. (but let's be honest, I'm not sure I would even be able to stand up. I would spend all my time wiping out.) The book mostly takes place on what is called one of the best surfing beaches in Europe.Iris is refreshing. She is not the type of girl that would attract your average celebrity. Sure, she is pretty. But she is low key and relaxed. I loved that Zeke was so taken with her. It said so much about the type of guy that he is. Because Iris is a quality girl, and it is impressive that an 18 year old guy that is famous and on top of his game notices quality over all the other girls that are throwing themselves at him. I thought it was adorable to see Zeke around his brothers. It was so cute to see that he had been talking to all of them about Iris. They knew who she was. It was just cute to see them all kind of joke around with him and push his buttons to see him react and admit that he liked her. Iris and Zeke are just the kind of young couple that you will love reading about and rooting for.The secondary characters are also a treat in Blue. All of Zeke's brothers, Iris' best friend, and her ex Daniel all were prominently featured in Blue. I enjoyed getting to know all of them, and seeing their story lines. I can't wait to see them again in the next book. Another pleasant surprise in Blue is how much you will learn about surfing. All of the lingo, and the description and detail about the sport was fantastic! For example, I learned that if I were to try and learn how to surf that the whitewater would be my friend for a very, very long time!Lisa Glass did a wonderful job with Blue. The writing was fresh, fun and conversational. It was so easy to just let yourself get lost in this cute beachy story for a couple of hours. The characters were delightful and had a rich depth to them. People are not always what they seem and people often have more going on in their lives and in their past that shape them into the person they are today. You learn a lot of assumptions and changed perceptions of the characters throughout the story. If you are looking for a fun, and beyond cute summer surf romance, look no further than Blue!*Disclaimer- I got a copy of this book for free in exchange for my honest review. If you are looking for that one book to kick off your summer reading, Blue by Lisa Glass is the book you should pick up. With Iris and Zeke meeting in a yoga class, in an awkward, but compromising position, there is instant attraction between these two. It drew me in, that's for sure. Both Iris and Zeke are sporty and exude a level of confidence that made them want to know each other more. And as the reader, I wanted to know too.While there is an immediate attraction and Iris and Zeke are drawn to each other, there is no insta-love here. Readers who are leery about insta-love stories can rest easy as you get to see the characters get to know each other and experience the friendship that begins to turn into more. But both Zeke and Iris are guarded and we begin to understand that their love story might not be so simple after all.There were instances in Blue that took the story in a more serious direction than I ever expected. It tackles some serious issues (which I can't mention because they can be plot spoilers), and does so in a way that keeps the story from becoming overwhelmed by them.There are many things that I loved about this book: *the friendship between Iris and her best friend, Kelly - this added a lot of humor to the book *the relationship between Zeke and his brother (and the rest of his family) - this explained a lot about Zeke *reading about Iris and how she grew into this more confident person after having her heart broken by her high-school boyfriend, Daniel *all of the emphasis on surfing - the rules, the lingo, the surf culture, the surfing lifestyle and the freedom that the characters experiencedAnd I especially loved reading the descriptions of being out in the ocean and the waves - it was hypnotic. I made me yearn to be in the water. It didn't make me what to go out and try to surf any time soon, but I could easily envision the surfers, in the water, experiencing the thrill of it all.I fell hard for this book and Iris and Zeke and their story. I would call Blue a true summer read (although you could read it any time of the year). There are other characters in Blue who were interesting enough that their story lines could lead to their own books. I certainly hope that that happens in the future.

After reading Shankar's Fundamentals of Physics last year, I couldn't help but get a feeling of satisfaction upon realizing that, in only a little over 400 pages, I had reviewed the essentials of introductory physics in stunning elegance. I credit that book with giving me an intuitive outlook on physics, something that has come in handy in my upper division physics classes.There's something oddly satisfying about Shankar's writing style and the clear expository manner in which he explains physics. Shankar has a way in which he can explain the essentials of something complicated, without compromising the depth of the subject. Hence, drawing once again on his prodigious skills as a teacher, his Fundamentals of Physics II covers not just the essentials of Electrodynamics and Magnetism, it goes above and beyond to even explain the role of electromagnetism in relativity.Among the other topics included in his masterful book, one can also find a few chapters in optics that contain a nice and neat introduction to the principle of least action. The section on quantum mechanics is very well written, and serves as a very neat introduction to the basic principles of quantum mechanics (for those interested, Shankar wrote another excellent book titled "Principles of Quantum Mechanics." A more advanced text, but worth the read). The mathematics throughout the book is not terribly challenging and will come in handy for future courses.Overall, I am quite satisfied with Shankar's latest entry into the Open Yale course series, as this is a worthy sequel to his previous Fundamentals of Physics textbook. I will be using his new book as a refresher before I take my first serious E&M upper division class at Cal Poly.For anyone who is looking to enhance their physics intuition and knowledge, one can never go wrong with Shankar.Update: Now that I have taken E&M I and E&M II and gotten A's in both classes, I can confidently say that without Shankar was hugely helpful in my understanding of the subject. I will now be taking Quantum Mechanics and (you guessed it) I'll be using Shankar's masterful Quantum Mechanics textbook.

This is a GREAT BOOK!Fundamentals of Physics II contains 3 main topics: Electromagnetism (Ch 1-15), Optics (Ch16-18), and Quantum Mechanics (Ch19-24).Each part is beautifully presented. Dr. Shankar is a great teacher! Some professors (I've had some) know the subject matter deeply but don't know how to teach it. Dr. Shankar has the gift of clearly teaching the subject matter and also unexpectedly throwing in tidbits of dry physics humor, both of which students thrive on. I'm a firm believer that a sense of dry humor, applied to physics, gives learning the added feature of entertainment! Shankar is a master at this!Its fun being able to watch the live classroom teaching on You-Tube from which the book is written. Especially fun is watching Shankar's interaction with his students.A separate website also contains support materials showing problem sets along with problem solutions. Some of the problem sets, however, didn't seem to correspond to the chapters in the book correctly. Nonetheless, a great book overall.

Wonderful elucidation by perhaps the most enjoyable physics lecturer since Feynman. If you’ve attempted the Feynman Lectures on Physics you’ve come to assume a dizzying number unexpected gems of insight will jump out at you that completely change your world view; Shankar’s gems are less disorienting, but really satisfying and his humor is subtle and lots of fun. I believe that, for each volume of the series, a companion volume with a large number of SOLVED problems to go along with the text would be an invaluable addition and push the ratings to five stars for each. The mathematics volume doesn’t really satisfy that need and often takes a little too much for granted with respect to the reader's background. The second book in Dr. Shankar's introduction to Physics. I love this book and the first book in the series. I wish they were around when I was an undergraduate science major. I bought them to review my Physics which was pretty rusty. These books help get me back on track. I'm a nerd so when I say they are both just a plain good read I guess you may want to take that with a grain of salt. Dr. Shankar has a style that makes Physics interesting, approachable, and as I said a good read. Make sure you start with the first volume.

The second volume of Yale Professor Shankar's first-year physics video lectures available on U-Tube, Yale, and elsewhere. Dr. Shankar's theoretical lectures do not include experimental demonstrations that MIT's Walter Lewin was famous for, but he's equally lucid, and also more expert in quantum theory. A great way to review your college physics or learn it for the first time.

Excellent explanations of each topic. Instead of the dry text that has the equations, but little else; this book has extensive explanations of the background physics. When you are done with a chapter, you understand both the underlying physics and the equations. The online lectures are also excellent and follow the book perfectly.

This is a great textbook to read up on physics. There is some expectation that the reader has already seen this material. Great book for a nice review and it has more in depth explanations, as well as pictures to help clarify things.

The introduction to quantum mechanics is worth the price of the book by itself (I have not read the other parts yet). The author is an experimented teacher and it shows. He does not dumb down things one bit and at the same time he does not hide behind opaque mathematical formalism (no bras or kets, no emphasis on operators, etc.).
