It's hard to find any form of social media free of some sort of credit history/credit score commercial or ad these days. With a person's credit score affecting so much of our lives nowadays, having a good score can make a huge difference in every financial action a person takes.Like most "Dummies" books, this one is very approachable for those of us who aren't accountants or financial advisors and who dislike even balancing our checkbooks. Having a bad credit score is something many are facing after the last several years of financial/economic stress, and this book offers no-nonsense ways to help get your financial dealings back in track and your credit score going in the up direction.The section on fraud that discuses the so-called "credit fixers" should be a mandatory read for every person applying for their first credit line. There's so many places out there offering a quick fix for a problem that can only be fixed with time and vigilance. Sadly many people fall into their trap because they want to take the easy way out. Fixing a credit score takes a lot of time, but too many people learn this lesson the hard way. The sections discussing the various types of bankruptcies, credit consolidation and repayment companies, and their pros and cons also should be mandatory reading for anyone in this situation. So much is left out when people file for bankruptcy or use a credit consolidation service that even those who've done weeks of research into both will be surprised at how much information is left out or assumed in both processes.As with any financial material, things can get a bit sluggish to read, but don't skip or skim pages. There are wonderful little tidbits that are easily missed this way. If you have kids about to start college and their own credit histories, get them this book. I have purchased several books on credit repair and the Credit Repair Kit for Dummies is the most informative, organized and practical of them all. This book is a lifesaver. I have been working on rebuilding my credit since the beginning of the year, and this book has provided me a lot of information that I did not otherwise find online, although I have not gone through the entire thing. If you're looking to turn your life around the financially savvy way, you should definitely buy this book. But it's not ALL about credit. Work an extra job, have garage sales, and learn to budget and save your money. It's tough work, but it's definitely worth it in the end!

Casting Spells is in my opinion the best book to read after Earth Magic. The way that Karfia Zoe writes is so soothing and comprehensive, that you can tell it comes from her heart. The techniques she puts forth in Casting Spells can't be stressed enough. You get out of them what you put into them. She stresses the fact that your own words are the most powerful. I can tell you from my own experience that the more feeling and emotion you put into your spells, the better and quicker the results. This review is for Talking to the Goddess. This book had a profound affect on me. I had never given the Goddess her due. This book changed all that. I always looked at the Goddess as the feminine side of the Creator! Never as a desperate deity that worked along side The Great Father Spirit and was in charge of everything upon the earth, (Mother Nature, Earth Mother, so to speak.) Native Americans I have met say this has been an accepted fact since creation, for them. Also the ancient essences made reference and gave her reverence. I had always felt that the living things in nature including the animals could communicate to you if you listened, like turning a radio dial. This book will help you to understand that we can get help and the answers we seek if we tune ourselves into Nature and The Goddess.

While communicating with the Goddess with a clear and focused mind is helpful, I myself, converse with the Goddess throughout each day whenever the need arises, whether for help in finding lost objects, or seeking clarity, guidance and protection in personal situations. Daily, I respectfully invoke the Elements, especially Air energy when a gentle wind is needed to cool or clear cigarette smoke from posted non-smoking areas. Various crystals from around the world share my home and workplace, providing balance, courage, clearer communication, harmony, healing energy, and protection. Easily understood, and a comfort to read, this two-book set should be an important part of any beginner or practitioner’s reference library. Well done!

These books made a great pair. Great for beginners and also some wonderful nuggets of wisdom for non-beginners. The Universal Laws discussed in Casting Spells poses as a wonderful reminder for all of us practicing the Craft that we must remain positive and send out the right kind of energy in order to see any positive results. I appreciated the tips in Talking to the Goddess that provide simple yet effective ways to strengthen our relationship with the Divine. Especially for the beginner, it makes creating and nurturing a relationship with the Divine seem more attainable and not as complicated as it can be made out to be.

Zoe writes to insure that everyone can clearly understand what is necessary for casting spells. The intention and the warning of asking for something that is not morally right is stressed. Stating that spellbooks are to be used only as guidelines is wonderful, especially for beginners. As for talking with the Goddess...that is something we should all be doing. Rituals and daily activities should speak directly to the Divine and the dialogue should come from within our own spiritual beings, not from someone else's thoughts and ideas. We are the Divine.

I liked this book a lot. As a fairly new witch I usually read such books and take in the info/opinions. I use what works for me and leave what doesn't. Part 1 of this book, Casting Spells had me pulling out my BOS and taking notes as I went along. That was a lot of fun for me. I really gleened some fantastic info about spell work, using the elements and various tools. Part 2 Talking to the Goddess was beautiful. Body, health, energy & emotions all connected to everything seen and unseen is what I walked away with. Very empowering to me as a witch and as a woman.

These books are great for beginning practitioners of Wicca. Written in a friendly, very readable style - the author makes it enjoyable to digest a lot of information (new, for many).The first book helps me feel more confident about spell work, which I have been nervous about doing wrong. And the second book reminds me to, and how to, stay in touch with and open to the influence of the divine (and that even for a born Catholic, this doesn't have to take place in church!).These two books are a natural pair, discussing energy both from the source and channeled for a purpose. Will revisit often.

Casting spells isn't so much a book of recipe spells, but explains the the Universal Laws of spell work, guidence on how to use magical tools, herbs, crystals, & candles. There's also a great reference guide for the magical energies & properties of plans and herbs used in spellwork.Talking with the Goddess is great guide for learning to control your thoughts, and state of mind by training in meditation. She gives some wonderful grounding techniques, instructions on how to find a mantra to fits you, and lessons for pranayama.

Rare are the times where you come across a book sequel that's better or at least just as good as the first book. Unfortunately, Fierce Leadership does not fall into the "Rare" category.It acts as more like an addendum or a Fierce Conversations 1.5 or FC remixed than anything fresh. And that's personally a let-down for me after shelling out another $20 to get this book. One more "irk" I have is when she criticizes companies for their useless jargon and acronyms, but in return, she's basically doing the same thing, but with her own Fierce vocabulary.With that said, there's a lot to like in this book. Scott's writing style is conversational, humorous, and direct. It's the fastest 300 pages I've ever read...but reading is not the main point of this book. It's living out the principles she lays out. I realize it's 2014 and this book was written at least 5 years ago... So a lot of these principles in today's organizations are probably being lived out. If not, then they should be. These must be a given in any organization hoping to strive in the 21st century.My guess is that a Boomer in a Boomer-run organization would best benefit from reading a book like this. A Gex-X & Y organization is built on a lot of these values and practices.Regardless, it's a fast read and gets you thinking about your influence no matter what position you hold. However, make sure you read "Fierce Conversations" first.

I chose this book because of the title and interesting chapter titles. Susan Scott introduces the reader to the "Squid Eye." Many institutions and businesses substitute capturing the schematics for success to apply, rather than looking closely to who they are and what is best to do in order to move forward. Best practices are often stolen ideas that work in other venues. Rather than dealing with the obvious, leaders plagiarize instead of working through a process of self-examination. Susan Scott gets the readers' attention and offers solid solutions to long-term success using the strengths of the organization.

Susan Scott takes the competitive, judgmental approach of conversation and moves it into an empathetic, know-thyself balanced art. Her wit is entertaining but her message is deep. Be warned. If you do the exercises and answer the questions she asks with honesty and authenticity, you will be changed.

Filled with potent moments to guide self-reflection. Helpful as I am taking steps to becoming a leader though not just voluntarily anymore.
