Why did you write this book on dictations and coding in oral and maxillofacial surgery?The dictated operative note is essential for the practice of oral and maxillofacial surgery. Unfortunately, the evidence indicates that the quality of dictated operative reports is poor. Important information is often omitted, In support of this was one study which showed that only 46% of items deemed important in the operative dictation were actually present in these documents (Edhemovic). This book was written to help readers dictate high quality operative notes.Why do we have so much difficulty in this area?Surveys have shown that few residency programs offer formal instruction on the content, structure, or importance of the operative report. Thus, residents leave their training programs to enter practice feeling inadequately prepared in this critical area.Why is there a relative lack of training in operative note documentation?In my conversations with program directors, I have learned that operative note documentation is an educational priority. The challenge for program directors is how to incorporate this education into the residency curriculum. By the time residents graduate, they must acquire a large body of knowledge and master many skills. It can be difficult to find time during conferences and didactics for instruction in operative note documentation. Even when it takes place, the amount of time devoted to it may not allow residents to become comfortable and confident.What can happen if residents leave their training inadequately prepared to dictate clear and complete operative notes?Knowledge gaps in this area have important consequences for practitioners. The operative dictation is an important medico-legal document, and therefore it must be clear and complete.Among the other consequences is reduced reimbursement or even denied claims for services provided when notes lack adequate descriptions and appropriate terminology. In one study of operative notes completed by residents, that authors wrote that nearly 30% of charges "would have been missed, delayed, or denied if the resident-dictated note was used to justify charges." (Novitsky). A more recent study evaluating the accuracy and completeness of coding in oral and maxillofacial surgery found that a "large proportion of operations were not assigned all the relevant codes." The authors concluded that "even small errors can have huge financial repercussions." I just received this book and had not realized how large it was when I ordered it. It's nice to have the large puzzles and print but the book isn't easily slipped into a purse or pocket, by any means. You'll have to find another for that easy convenience, if that's what you're looking for.I've not done many of the puzzles yet but I will update this review as I work through them. I like a relatively quick and easy puzzle so I'm hoping that that's what these are, as is stated. I don't mind a bit of a challenge, but I wish to be able to finish them without cheating, in less than an hour. Beyond that, I don't consider them "easy", in any sense of the word, for the average person.Pictures included to show the size and layout of the pages. One shows comparison with a common 9 x 11 inch notebook. Happy puzzling!

Will Shortz has the best Sudoku books. Puzzles are fun and challenging and the books are constructed to be comfortable to use with only one puzzle per page. I have bought many Sudoku books and enjoy these by Will Shortz the most.

I have been enjoying working all of these sudoku puzzles. The puzzles are easy and you can get cross-eyed if you work these too long. I was in the hospital for a while and I worked these puzzles to forget the misery of being in a hospital. It as least made the time go by.There are 300 puzzles and I do not work them in order. I skip around. I even cheat upon occassion.All is fair when one is in the misery of a hospital. A luxury cruise liner it is not.I am still working these because there a lot of them!I am stil enjoying them.

I enjoy doing sudoku puzzles, but I ordered this one specifically because it said that it is a book of “easy” puzzles. I have worked on all level of puzzles, and I definitely wouldn’t put these in the “easy” category. The book is huge and I can work through the puzzles, it’s just that the title is misleading and not what I wanted.

these are not easy puzzles. guesswork required. then, starting on page 271, they switch to "moderate". i.e nearly impossible. I guess I should have known better with Will Shortz' name - see similar comments regarding his "easy" crossword puzzles.

This book is too big. Bigger than necessary. Keeping the puzzles exactly the same size (which is a nice size), the book could have been 3" shorter as there is a lot of blank space at the top and bottom of each puzzle. The paper is a newsprint kind of paper which is yucky to write on with a pencil and the numbers bleed through from the other side of the page, including your own writing. I should really give it fewer than 3 stars because of the cumbersome size and the poor quality of the paper. However, I do like the puzzles. It says "easy" but these are not super simple. Do not buy this book if you are looking for really really easy puzzles. You will be disappointed from the very first puzzle if you do. I like easy but not brainless... I like a bit of a challenge. These are perfect for me (as long as they don't get any harder... I've done about 6 so far)

I love sudoku puzzles. You know, the EASY ones that I can actually complete all by myself without flipping to the back of the book and cheating to complete them. It's not just a good time waster when you're bored, but it's good for your brain. I read that doing sudoku puzzles may help you prevent having Alzheimer's down the road, so why not? A time killer. A possible mental disease preventer. What's not to like?

I completely enjoy Will Shortz Sudoku puzzles. Even though they are listed as "Easy Puzzles", there is always "bump in the road" when you are doing them. The bump is not insurmountable. I only purchase Will Sortz Sudoku puzzles, he is the best in my opinion.

I love this book, as well as Pretend Soup. My 3.5 year old daughter and 1.5 year old son come together and harmoniously, enthusiastically work together to pour and place ingredients. They love smelling things and identifying what different foods are. My daughter will sit at her little table for 15 minutes at a time just looking at all the recipes, trying to name which foods are in the pictures and then asking if we can make that particular concoction. It has brought a lot of joy into our home. I feel great about the type of foods they're eating (and yes, they are much more likely to eat their salads when they make the food themselves). And best thing is that my kids aren't bored, they're not asking to watch TV. It really brings us together.And i'm learning a lot too.

I bought this book for my kids as a Christmas present. All 3 of them, ages 1, 4, and 7 have enjoyed making (and eating!) the several recipes that we have tried so far. What I love about this book is that the picture recipes are easy to follow for kids, the recipes use "real" food ingredients, and I have been pleasantly surprised at how good the the recipes taste! The recipes call for a reasonable amount of ingredients that are easy to find at most grocery stores and are not too expensive. Mollie Katzen has created a simple yet thorough cookbook for kids. I have seen them begin to develop a real joy for cooking and trying new foods with this book. I have no complaints and will buy her other books too. Wonderful book.

My kids have asked if they can always be the ones to make meals. They have marked which recipes in here they want to make--most of them. Tonight my son made some amazing pink lemonade using a recipe in this book.Each recipe has a two-page spread and a drawing to illustrate each step.No offense to men on my title there--my husband does fine in the kitchen, but he refuses to use cookbooks. He himself declared that this is the sort of cookbook he needs, with the pictures and all. So it's a cookbook for kids and husbands.

I think this book is better for kids from kindergarten to early elementary grades. There are recipes for real food, not just fun food. The best feature is that every recipe has pictures that depict every step of the process. My six year old grandson loves it.

This and "Pretend Soup" are both excellent vegetarian cookbooks. I've been a preschool teacher for a VERY long time and these are written by someone who understands children. The recipes are really good and the format/illustrations are perfect.

My kids enjoyed this as preschoolers, even before they could read. The recipes are explained using simple words and clear pictures, so kids can figure out what to do themselves. These are also very tasty recipes. We still use some of them even though my children are now using regular cookbooks and recipes off the internet.

Mollie Katzen is a great cookbook author, and I love to give this as a gift to young cooks. Because Katzen writes vegetarian, it is a 'no worry' gift if the family has made that choice.Recipies are easy to follow with delicious results. Reading, planning, following directions - all important steps for young readers.A solid choice for your own kids, or as a holiday or birthday gift.

With as much anticipation as a 12 year outside Barnes and Noble waiting for the midnight release of Harry Potter #7, I pre-ordered Meehan’s Bartender Manual so it would arrive freshly on my doorstep publication day; 8 hours later, and 260 pages into his manual, I already know this book will be as influential as many of the defining cocktail books of our era that built my mixology hobby - death & co, liquid intelligence, potions of the Caribbean. Although I can yet to comment on the second half (yes I’m reading it front to back) I can recommend with utmost confidence you should buy Meehan’s new manual if you want to be on the forefront of our cocktail revolution; he has taken his decades of experience and vast weath of knowledge and placed it at your fingertips with insights and wisdom stated clearly, efficiently, and beautifully. I’ll give some examples:-Cocktail History: Meehan condenses many worldwide threads of cocktails history (tiki, prohibition, punch, the dark ages aka 60s/70s, our newest revolution) and places them in a logical timeline that clearly makes sense in simple language. I have read many cocktail books explaining these eras separately, but for the first time Mehaan connects and integrates the whole story clearly, showing how our history molded the cocktail renessance we are in today.-Commercial Bar Design: he examines every detail down to the minimum dimension of a bar stool chair cushion, to optimized well bottle organization, to lighting, floor plans, neighborhood selection, all with insights gleaming through from his many years building PDT and other world renown bars.-Home Bar Design: this is the first book I have seen touch on Home bars, where many readers like myself spend the majority of our time crafting drinks.-Tools and Techniques: while many other books have belabored these subjects to death, Meehan added fresh insight to these already well written about topics. It is written at the level both an expert and a novice can draw significant knowledge from.-Production: Meehan takes liquor from the farm to distillation to bottling to table, unmasking a fascinating world only seen by the leaders in the field.And of course as with every book, there is the ‘Spirits and Cocktails’ section. It’s divided by liquor class, each with a beautiful introduction on the birthplace, origin, history, and shaping of that class. Meehan focuses on only 100 cocktails (classics/vintage + some of his creations), allowing more depth by going through the “origin, logic, and hacks” for each drink. I love this organization. It’s a nice variation from so many prior cocktail books.And past page 260 (I’m currently in his rum based section), I’ll leave to you so I don’t spoil it all. Enjoy as you dive into this great new book that will join in history as a defining book of our cocktail revolution.p.s.+It’s bound in a beautiful green thick hardback cover that has both the beauty of a coffee table book to the durability of a barback book+It has beautiful Pictures, Bar Layout Designs, Maps, and imagery making it pleasing to flip through.

I am extremely impressed by the entirety of this cocktail book. It has a heavy focus on the logistical and technical aspects of not just making drinks, but opening, setting up, and operating a bar efficiently. The included architectural plans of successful bars and the explanation and analysis of their use of design and space is something you don't see in almost any other cocktail book. The section on drink making technique is handled in an almost tactical narrative. It using the fictional placement of a very large order of 11 or so cocktails requiring every method of drink creation to explain how a bar with two bartenders would most efficiently split the work and create the ensuing drinks so that everything was finished at around the same time while maintaining the quality of every single drink.The photography is stunning, the layout is very intuitive, and the physical binding and quality of printing are all top notch. Each recipe comes with a photograph, the history of the drink, and recommendations on quality of spirits/ingredients to use.I will say, that if you're just looking for a straight recipe book or an introductory cocktail book to get your feet wet, this may be a bit intense. It really is aimed more towards folks who are already, or are interested in becoming, involved in the cocktail/hospitality industry, or cocktail enthusiasts who are in pretty deep. This is not a generalist manual as it goes into very detailed specifics and theory as well as philosophy of being in the service industry.This is not a criticism at all and I think that this is one of Meehan's Bartender Manual's greatest strengths which makes it stand out from the crowd, but that said just be aware if that doesn't sound like something you're into. I'd absolutely recommend this book and am very pleased with this purchase. I already had high expectations when I pre-ordered this since PDT's cocktail book (also by Jim Meehan) was amazing, but this is a book with a different purpose that I think elevates even past it.

Great reference and history of spirits. There are some great recipes in here that go to often. Many of the recipes call for boutique spirits that can be very hard to acquire. I wish substitutions are more clearly spelled out, but to be clear, there are attempts to 'hack' some recipes in cases where some recipes are hard to find. It's a great book and very interesting, but not quite what I was expecting for home mixing. The few recipes I pulled out of it are great--I was just expecting a book/reference with many recipes that I can use.The take away for me would be: if you're looking for a book with a bunch of recipes for home mixing, this may not be the best one for you. The first recipe doesn't show up until hundreds f of pages into the book. However, If you're looking to be highly educated in spirits with a few bullet-proof recipes, you should consider this book. I recommend the Negroni, Boulevardier, Rob Roy, Vesper, Old Friend, and 21st Century.

Although I have been playing bridge quite regularly for the past two years, and now consider myself more than a "beginner", I found that Mr. Bayonne's approach to teaching bridge and easy-going writing definitely gave me insights and hints that have been very useful as I continue to enjoy this game so very much. I was grateful for the many hand illustrations and explanations of how to "read" the cards to develop a strategy for play, and appreciated the definitions of "bridge lingo" that I had heard but wasn't really certain of. Well done! How abut a book for intermediate players, Mr. Bayonne?

Well written, but needs a section on intermediate bridge playing. Good explanations and good example hands

I sampled this book at a bookstore near where I live. It's a slightly re-written edition of Mr. Bayone's primer from 1998, "It's Bridge, Baby." I thoroughly enjoyed that book, and learned a great deal from it. The main differences are: 1) "A Taste" has more illustrations and some practice exercises, something which "Baby" didn't include; and 2) it's also noticeably thinner than "Baby." (Same content - different paper?) As fine a manual as "Baby" was, I heard in some circles that it's inch-and-a-half thickness drove away some beginners. Players realize that bridge is a challenge to learn - and teach. Thick beginners' books don't exactly help the game's image. "A Taste," at about three-fourths of an inch, is about right. It makes for lively reading and a good foundation into the world's most intriguing mind game.

Jeff's knowledge of bridge and the teaching of bridge makes this a unique book. He emphasizes what's fun, unlike other primers. That should encourage those who are interested in Bridge to give it a try. He did a marvelous job explaining how to get started at his event in Bryant Park in NYC. In fact, Bryant Park has invited him to continue to teach bridge there in 2018. I think many players will be inspired to stick with it once they get "A Taste of Bridge."

I've been very impressed with the format of this book. The emphasis on the play of the hand is so important, not only for beginners but for players who have a problem seeing how they can make their contract. A must read for all new players. Ellen Waldman
