I really like this book.It was exactly what I was looking for.The pharmacology info is a bit scanty but I have a Davis Drug Guide to supplement it. There are also a few drugs that need to be added.This book is a great reference for ht/wt charts and all the additional info it contains.I appriciate that it gives info on IV drugs.I will say that for the price this book is very flimsy and will not hold up well if you carry it around in your pocket.The spiral binding is sturdy plastic but the cover and pages are very thin.In spite of this I still rate it a five because it is full of very useful info and is a great reference for patient teaching.
I have purchased every one of Pronsky's FMI books since her first was published. My work as a clinician depends on accurate, objective and up to date information and this is it. I tried other similar food-medication interaction sources and none is was simple to use nor as respected in the profession. I found little difference between the 16th and 17th editions and still use both. I do miss having the electronic updated version. I also miss Zaneta, and good friend, a respected, generous and knowledgeable professional. May she RIP.
I bought this book to use during my dietetic internship. The book is easy to use as a reference, and has a fairly comprehensive medicine list. There are a few medications I had to look up via the internet, but otherwise the book was great. In the long run, I did find it easier to search for most information regarding medication information online. However, it offers detailed information that may be difficult to find online.Overall a great resource that comes in handy.
I have a lot of allergies to different foods what makes my life difficult by itself. Most certainly I want to avoid compounding my problems with medicine-food interaction. I review carefully all the possible interactions listed in the book not only with the prescription medication I am taking but with over the counter drugs as well: namely Tums and Aspirin.

Very easy to use. This was super helpful during my dietetic internship. I also love the chart to help understand labs in it. If you are spending the majority of your dietetic internship in a clinical setting you will find this book very beneficial.
These are required for most DI interns, but with new drugs coming up all the time, it's already out of date. Handy though when you can't get the Internet on your phone to look up a drug due to the thick concrete walls in hospitals.
I just returned to a part-time clinical position in my semi-retirement and found that I needed to purchase this reference again. Years ago, I relied on it heavily for my assessments and found that it is still the best tool available for clinical dietitians for checking food medication interactions.
